The Bite is On!

January is off to an incredible start on Lake of the Woods—and the ice fishing action is only heating up. Anglers staying with us at Border View Lodge and Sportsman’s Lodge have been pulling in impressive numbers of quality fish, with plenty of big walleyes coming through the ice. If January is any indication, February is shaping up to be an outstanding month on the lake.

Lake of the Woods is known for offering the longest ice fishing season in Minnesota, and this year is no exception. With consistent ice conditions and a strong mid-winter bite, we anticipate excellent fishing well into February and hopeful ice conditions into early March. That extended season means more opportunities to plan multiple trips, gather your crew, and get back out on the ice for another unforgettable adventure.

What sets an ice fishing trip here apart is experience—and our guides bring plenty of it. Our teams are on the ice daily, monitoring conditions and fish movement. We move our fish houses frequently to stay on top of active schools, giving our guests the best possible chance at success. The result? Comfortable days on the ice, steady action, and memories that keep anglers coming back year after year.

Whether you’re chasing trophy walleyes, enjoying time with friends and family, or planning your annual winter fishing tradition, February is the perfect time to experience Lake of the Woods at its best. With a strong start to the season and prime conditions ahead, now is the time to book your trip and see why anglers return season after season.

We’ll have the houses ready, the guides dialed in, and the fish waiting. See you on the ice.
