Match the Hatch!
It’s that time of year, when the sizeable walleyes are moving in deeper waters to feed. The fishing methods vary from one day to the next, depending on the weather pattern. Guides have been drifting with spinners and night crawlers when there is a breeze and pulling plugs when the lake is calm. Best results this past week were found in 30 to 36 feet of water, in the rocks. Popular colors for crank baits were #5 & #7 chartreuse, crayfish and perch. The boats are moving around to catch fish but have had no problems filling out limits! Our veteran guide, Ralph gives the advice to “Match the Hatch.” Try to find what the fish are feeding on in the lake and use your bait to match. Or better yet, book a guided trip with us this fall and let your guide to the hard work for you!
